Whatever the launch date, the Palm Pre will broaden the interest in sophisticated mobile phones and mobile apps. While most analysts spend their time sizing up the Pre against the iPhone, everyone should remember that interest in mobile apps spurred by one company raises all ships. Sure Apple and Palm will battle to get the interest of developers much like Playstation and XBox console fights. But, remember that the iPhone brought more interest to apps on all platforms.
