Video is the most wanted feature in the next Apple iPhone operating system.

That’s the result of our recent poll asking for the top five features readers want Apple to announce tomorrow during the iPhone OS 3.0 presentation. Rather than the top 5 features, spots 5, 6 and 7 each had 8 votes — so all will be included in the next poll rounding down to the No. 1 feature.

The thing perhaps most surprising is that push notifications didn’t make the top list (coming in at No. 8 with 7 votes). Push was promised by Apple by September 2008, but never came. Rather than allow multiple apps to run at the same time, push notifications would allow for programs such as AOL instant messenger or Facebook to check for new messages while not running and alert the user (much like a text message) when new information is received.

Here are the top features you all asked for:

• Video (57.0%, 16 Votes)
• Copy/paste (43.0%, 12 Votes)
• Adobe Flash support (36.0%, 10 Votes)
• Universal search (32.0%, 9 Votes)
• Better text messaging (MMS so you can send photos and video, ability to forward text messages) (29.0%, 8 Votes)
• Voice prompted turn by turn GPS (29.0%, 8 Votes)
• Horizontal keyboard option while typing text messages and e-mails (29.0%, 8 Votes)

Now, before the presentation we’re asking for you to again think about what you most want in the next iPhone software and now vote for the No. 1 thing you want from Apple for your i-Friend. We’ll announce results tomorrow morning. Also check back for what is announced by the Cupertino folk.
